LuLu Group, whose flagship hypermarket chain powers\nthe MENA region as one of the largest and fastest- growing retail chains, will\nbe launching an ambitious ESG campaign this month which will shape the way the\nGroup manages its response to environmental issues and sustainability, promotes\nsocial values such as diversity and inclusion in the workplace and manages employee relations through good\ngovernance of the workplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ncarefully planned campaign is called GOAL – which is an acronym for Green.\nOneness. Awareness. and Life – and was launched by HRH Princess Haifa bint\nFaisal Al Saud, Chairperson of Zahra Breast Cancer Association. October being\nBreast Cancer Awareness Month, Lulu has also linked the purchase and use of its\nrecyclable bags to raising funds for the ZahraBreast Cancer Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nGOAL campaign to promote Lulu’s ESG targets will run from October 2022 till\nSeptember 2023. It will see the Group enhance\nits programs that are already in place and execute new ones which set\nnew goals and initiatives which welcome public participation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 12 months of unique \u2018green ideas\u2019 have been\nselected for implementation over the coming year, each adding value to the\nGroup\u2019s existing environmental and sustainability track record and also\nbringing new commitment to the campaign. These\ninclude the running of LuLu\u2019s large warehouses using solar energy and giving\ncustomers the option of paper bags when shopping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other initiatives such as\nthe Saudi Green Initiative and National Food Bank projects, sustainable fashion\ncampaign and a vegan promotion to explore alternative diets considered more gentle\non the environment will underscore the Group\u2019s \u2018green\u2019 consciousness. There will also be a Green Office\nprogram to encourage employees to think environmentally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Social goals will be addressed through campaigns such\nas a winter clothes collection drive and a Clean Up initiative which will see\nemployees volunteer time and energy to help residents clean up wadis, parks and\ngardens as well as trash lying in the desert areas. Small businesses will get a\nplatform to promote their products and services in-store and a project to teach\nchildren crafts that will reuse and upcycle household waste, especially\nplastics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Employee relations campaigns will include training,\nappreciation and recognition of employees \u2013 LuLu in KSA has a multi-national\nworkforce that has a strong diversity and inclusion component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
