The Group and Boston Dynamics will make an initial investment of more\nthan $400 million in the new Institute, which will be led by Marc Raibert,\nfounder of Boston Dynamics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">As a\nresearch-first organization, the Institute will work on solving the most\nimportant and difficult challenges facing the creation of advanced robots.\nElite talent across AI, robotics, computing, machine learning and engineering\nwill develop technology for robots and use it to advance their capabilities and\nusefulness. The Institute\u2019s culture is designed to combine the best features of\nuniversity research labs with those of corporate development labs while working\nin four core technical areas: cognitive AI, athletic AI, organic hardware\ndesign as well as ethics and policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur mission is\nto create future generations of advanced robots and intelligent machines that\nare smarter, more agile, perceptive and safer than anything that exists today,\u201d\nsaid Marc Raibert executive director of Boston Dynamics AI Institute. \u201cThe\nunique structure of the Institute \u2014 top talent focused on fundamental solutions\nwith sustained funding and excellent technical support \u2014 will help us create\nrobots that are easier to use, more productive, able to perform a wider variety\nof tasks, and that are safer working with people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve such\nadvances, the Institute will invest resources across the technical areas of\ncognitive AI, athletic AI and organic hardware design, with each discipline\ncontributing to progress in advanced machine capabilities.
