The plant will &nbsp;supply water to\nRiyadh and Qassim regions once commercially operational in 2024, under the terms\nof a 25-year Water Purchase Agreement. The consortium, led by ENGIE, was\nawarded the Jubail 3B project in June 2021 after submitting a bid with a tariff\nof SAR 1.591 per cubic meter of potable water to SWPC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Developed under a\npublic-private partnership structure (PPP), the plant will be financed by the\nconsortium and operated and maintained by ENGIE. Once complete, the plant will\nhave a 61MWp\ncapacity solar facility \u2013 the largest in-house solar capability for a\ndesalination plant in the Kingdom, helping to optimize electricity consumption\nand reduce grid reliance. Jubail 3B\u2019s use of solar energy speaks directly to\nSaudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030 and net-zero objectives, which seek to reduce the\ncountry\u2019s reliance on fossil fuels and drive the shift to clean energy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAs we look to increase the desalinated water supply\nacross Saudi Arabia, we are delighted to see construction on the Jubail plant\nbegin today. The provision of desalinated water is an essential strategy in our\nnation\u2019s objective to ensure secure water supplies across the Kingdom while\nmeeting the goals of Vision 2030. The Jubail 3B IWP plant will not only use\nreverse osmosis, a more energy-efficient process than traditional thermal\ndesalination technologies but will also use renewable solar energy in place of\ntraditional fossil fuels, helping to reduce its carbon footprint. Moreover, the\nplant will critically support the creation of local job opportunities, \u201cadded\n<strong>Khaled Z AlQureshi, CEO of SWPC.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Speaking also at the groundbreaking ceremony, <strong>Turki\nAl Shehri, CEO of ENGIE in Saudi Arabia,<\/strong> said, \u201cThe start of construction\non the Jubail 3B IWP plant is yet another ENGIE Saudi Arabia milestone that works\nto support of the government\u2019s transition to low carbon, energy-efficient\nsolutions in line with Vision 2030.
