The\nevent was attended by senior officials from government agencies and the private\nsector as well as international and regional organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The Saudi Assistant Minister of Finance participated in a session\nentitled \u201cAligning the Global Debt Architecture with the SDGs: What will it\ntake?\u201d which fostered in-depth discussions on the benefits of the Debt Service Suspension\nInitiative (DSSI) and the Common Framework (CF) launched by the G20 during the Saudi\nPresidency in 2020. The discussion included steps to make current initiatives\nwork more effectively, including improving information and the role of credit\nrating agencies, making proposals to increase the use of innovative tools that\nenhance debt sustainability, along with international support measures and ways\nto reform the international debt architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">AlRasheed explained that the main objective of any debt treatment is to\nprovide debtor countries with a fiscal space that would enhance their debt\nsustainability, ensure their propriety, strengthen their financial position and\nenable them to finance their development to repay their debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">He also indicated that two years since the inception of the endorsement\nof the Common Framework (CF), during the G20 Saudi Presidency in 2020, it\nbecame clear that it is the only way to address debt challenges. He explained\nthat major creditors today aren\u2019t the same major creditors of 20 years ago, and\nwe need to realize that and work accordingly.
