The announcement of the qualified bidders marks the end of the first stage of the licensing round process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The qualified bidders are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Alara Saudi Ventures PTY LTD<\/li><li>Al Masane Al Kobra Mining Company (AMAK)<\/li><li>Essel Mining &amp; Industries Limited<\/li><li>Ivanhoe Electric Inc<\/li><li>Moxico Resources PLC<\/li><li>Norin Mining Ltd<\/li><li>Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma\u2019aden)<\/li><li>Vedanta Limited<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qualified bidders will receive the Information\nMemorandum which sets out the requirements for qualified bidders to submit\ntheir best proposals for the site. Qualified bidders are given two months to\ncomplete and submit their proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposal submissions will be\nassessed based on a number of criteria, including technical and commercial\nterms, financial and environmental and social management plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qualified bidders can now access the\ndata room which will be shortly updated with further documentation of an\nindependent technical report and additional data relating to the site such as a\nfull land survey and a social study conducted for the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The qualified bidders will also be\ninvited to a conference which will be organized by the Ministry in April, to\nlearn more about the next stages of the licensing round process and visit the\nsite in person, should they wish to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Considering the emphasis Saudi\nArabia is placing on environmental, social and governance (ESG) as it seeks to\nlead and transform the region\u2019s mining sector, bidders will need to demonstrate\nhow they will uphold these principles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the proposal stage, the\nMinistry may select a single successful bidder who will enter to final\nnegotiations on the terms of the exploration license, or alternatively, if two\nor more proposals scores fall within a comparative range, the Ministry will designate\nthese bidders as \u2018Competitive Bidders\u2019 and invite them to participate in a\nfinal licensing round stage in the form of a Multi-Round Auction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Khnaigiuyah site is the largest\nexploration site in the Kingdom covering an area of more than 350 square\nkilometres and has a huge mining potential of approximately 25 million tons of ore\nat 4.11 % of zinc and 0.56% of copper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Industry and Mineral\nRecourses announced the launch of the licensing round of Khnaigiuyah exploration\nlicense in the beginning of this year as this process will advance the journey\nof exploiting the vast mineral sector in the Kingdom. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In line with Saudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030, which seeks to transform mining sector into the third pillar of the national industries, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM) announces the qualified bidders for the largest mineral exploration license at Khnaigiuyah site.
