Genesis has unveiled its first dedicated electric vehicle, the GV60, a model that embodies the brand\u2019s journey towards electrification. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, September 30 (KST), Genesis held\nthe GV60 Digital World Premiere event online. During the event, the brand\nunveiled a film on the Genesis Worldwide YouTube channel (link<\/a>) that introduced the\nworld to the GV60\u2019s design philosophy and key product values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film, entitled \u2018Plug\nInto Your Senses<\/em>\u2019<\/em>, introduces the vehicle\u2019s various technologies through a\nnarration that personifies the GV60 and highlights its interactions with the\ndriver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 follows the same model naming scheme as\nGenesis\u2019 existing lineup, highlighting the brand\u2019s continuous commitment to its\nvalues even after electrification. The\nvehicle also marks the beginning of \u201cluxury brand lineup\nthat interacts with drivers\u201d, as presented during the brand vision announcement\non September 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe\nGV60 is the first dedicated EV model with the most dynamic design, representing\nGenesis\u2019 electrification. It will set a new standard for luxury electric\nvehicles with a powerful driving performance and various key features based on\ninteractions with customers,” said Jay Chang, Global Head of Genesis\nbrand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe GV60 is a symbolic model\nthat materializes the unique values and the sensibilities that Genesis stands\nfor. It offers a satisfying experience to our customers who want something\nvaluable, but different,\u201d said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of\nGenesis brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting a new standard for luxury EV design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 is a\nhigh-performance electric vehicle with a sleek and athletic coup\u00e9 crossover\nutility vehicle (CUV) design that is expands Genesis\u2019 \u2018Athletic Elegance\u2019\ndesign identity into the sustainable luxury space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring Two Lines lamps, the front design\nperfectly complements the vehicle\u2019s refined and voluminous body. Iconic and\ninstantly recognizable, the Two-Line design is a symbol of Genesis vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Genesis signature\nCrest Grille moves to a lower position to accommodate cooling requirements\nspecific to the dedicated high performance EV platform. An EV specific detail\nthat highlights Genesis\u2019 transition to the sustainable era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a first for\nGenesis, the GV60 features a Clamshell Hood, a single panel which combines the\nhood and fenders, creating a sleek impression. The vehicle also comes with a\nnew wing emblem on the hood. Decorated with the Guilloch\u00e9 pattern[1]<\/a>\noften seen in luxury watches, the thickness of the emblem has been reduced by\nnearly 80 percent compared to the previous one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60\u2019s body surfacing is seamless and minimal\nwithout undercuts or character lines. Yet, the muscular volumes bulging beneath\nthe surface pushing out the wide stance characterizes the visual presence of\nGV60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coup\u00e9 silhouette, streamlined from the hood to the spoiler,\nsolidifies a more athletic profile with a short overhang and a long wheelbase\nof 2,900 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the\nchrome Volt DLO (Day Light Opening), which begins from the top of the\nwindshield towards the rear with a distinctive V shape, is another design\nelement that demonstrates the dynamism and anti conformist\nstyle of the GV60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the GV60\naccentuates its cutting-edge look with digital side mirrors and electric door\nhandles. The handles automatically pop up\nwhen the driver approaches the car with their smart key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the rear of the\nGV60, the coup\u00e9 roof profile ends with a distinctive fixed wing spoiler. The shoulder volume of the rear fender, emphasizes the vehicle\u2019s side stance, further highlighting its dynamic,\nhigh-performance electric vehicle image. The finishing touch of the GV60\u2019s rear\nis the Genesis signature Two Line lamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luxurious and functional interior\nspace with exclusive color options<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior design of the GV60 takes on Genesis\u2019 design ethos\nof the \u2018Beauty of White Space\u2019, while seeking to create a spacious and\ncomfortable interior. At the same time, its floating architecture and unique\ndetails combine together to create a unique look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nCrystal Sphere is one of the most compelling design elements of the GV60. It is\nnot only an aesthetic element of the interior design, but it is also built to\ncreate an emotional connection between the driver and the vehicle. When the\nvehicle is turned off, the Crystal Sphere becomes the vehicle\u2019s mood lights,\nadding to the aesthetic of the driving experience. When the vehicle is ready to\ndrive, the sphere rotates and the Shift By Wire (SBW) appears, creating an\nindoor atmosphere of futuristic mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nfloating console, where the Crystal Sphere is located, looks as if it is\nhovering in the air, working with other unique features such as the slim\ncockpit and flat floor to provide passengers with a maximum level of openness.\nIn addition, the next-generation infotainment system \u2013 the connected car\nIntegrated Cockpit (ccIC) \u2013 connects the cluster and navigation into a\npanoramic display, creating a high-tech look and outstanding usability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To create a truly luxurious driving\nexperience, various components in the GV60\u2019s interior, including the Crystal\nSphere, the horn cover, the door handles, and the side mirror controllers, are\ndecorated with circular embellishments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make the GV60 more sustainable, various\nparts are created with eco-friendly and recycled materials.\nThe seats, door armrests, console armrests, and crash pads are made with\nplant-based leather. The seat covers and door center trims features fabrics\nmade with yarns extracted from recycled PET bottles and fishnets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 is available in total of 11 colors, including\nfour new colors: S\u00e3o Paulo Lime, Hanauma Mint, Atacama Copper, and Atacama\nCopper Matte. Other colors include Vik Black, Uyuni White, Matterhorn White,\nSaville Silver, Carbon Metal, Melbourne Gray, and Royal Blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The S\u00e3o Paulo\nLime is Genesis\u2019 new signature color for its high-performance electric vehicle\nas it emphasizes the active and dynamic character of the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanauma Mint is\na color that emphasizes eco-friendliness. The Copper color is a signature color\nof Genesis and will be applied to the exterior of the brand\u2019s vehicles starting\nwith the GV60. In particular, the matte copper color has been enhanced with an\nimproved paint that feels more like a raw copper material than conventional\nmatte paints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior is available in a total of five\ncolors: Obsidian Black, Torrent Navy, Ash Gray\/Glacier White, Monstera\nGreen\/Camel Beige and Monstera Green\/Glassier White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovative technologies that\nenable interactive experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 is equipped with innovative technologies to\nprovide a unique electric vehicle experience. Innovations such as Face Connect,\nFingerprint Authentication System, Over-the-Air (OTA) Software Update, and Digital Key 2 enable drivers to\ninteract with their vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Face Connect is a feature that allows the vehicle to\nrecognize the driver’s face to lock or unlock its doors without a key. Drivers only\nneed to touch the door handle and show their face to the camera on the B-pillar.\nThe feature can register two faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature uses a Near Infra-Red (NIR) camera to\nprovide accurate facial recognition under virtually any circumstances \u2013\nincluding in the dark or when the weather is cloudy. It also leverages Deep\nlearning technology to improve accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Face Connect, the\nHead-Up-Display (HUD), driver\u2019s seat, steering wheel, side mirrors, and\ninfotainment settings can be adjusted based on the driver\u2019s customized settings.\nIt can be automatically connected to individual driver profiles, providing a\nnew level of convenience\nthat makes it seem as if the vehicle\nrecognizes the driver<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60\u2019s Fingerprint\nAuthentication System allows drivers to start and drive the car without a key\nand offers an authentication function for in car payments and release of Valet\nMode. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combination of both\ntechnologies will allow drivers to enjoy a brand new experience of using only\nbiometric information to drive their car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the GV60, the OTA Software Update has been further expanded to include a\nvariety of areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, this\nfunction was used to wirelessly update infotainment system features, such as\nnavigation, the digital instrument cluster, and the Head-Up-Display (HUD). With\nthe GV60, the scope of the updates has been further expanded to other key areas\nof the vehicle, enabling additional software updates on major electronic\ndevices including the electric vehicle integrated control device, suspension,\nbrakes, steering wheel, airbags, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This allows drivers to\nupdate their vehicle\u2019s software without visiting a service center, so their\nvehicle is always up to date with the latest features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the GV60\nwill feature a Digital Key 2 for the first time in a Genesis vehicle. This is an\nupgraded version of the existing digital key, enabling drivers to open the door\nwithout using the smartphone. Drivers can enter and start their car by simply\ntouching the door handle and the digital key can be shared to up to three\npeople.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Differentiated\nperformance and premium EV driving capability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 is Genesis\u2019 first\nvehicle to be built on the dedicated EV platform known as Electric-Global\nModular Platform (E-GMP), marking the brand\u2019s move towards electrification. It\nis available in three models: a standard rear-wheel-drive model, a standard\nfour-wheel-drive model, and a performance model with four-wheel-drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each model features a 77.4kWh battery, and the standard\nRWD model features a maximum driving range of 451km[2]<\/a>\nper charge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nstandard RWD model is equipped with a motor that features a maximum output of\n168kW and a maximum torque of 350Nm. The standard AWD model is equipped with a 160kW\nmotor for its rear wheels and a 74kW motor for its front wheels, providing a\ntotal output of 234kW, a maximum torque of 605Nm, and a maximum driving range\nof 400km per charge. (Estimates provided by Genesis R&D Center based on\nKorean EV certification system and 19\u201d wheels)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nperformance model features two 160kW motors for the front and rear wheels,\ndelivering a total output of 320kW, maximum torque of 605Nm, and a maximum driving\nrange of 368km per charge. It is an ideal option for customers seeking a fun\ndriving experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 comes with a Boost Mode to give it a more dynamic and luxurious element.\nThe mode immediately increases the performance of the vehicle\u2019s maximum output,\nmaking the driving experience more dynamic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nBoost Mode button on the steering wheel activates additional performance for 10\nseconds. This enables the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km\/h in just 4.0 seconds[3]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\ndrivers who are looking for a more dynamic experience, the GV60 also features a\nDrift Mode. It provides athletic driving by optimizing distribution of driving\npower and braking system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\ntop of its dynamic performance, the GV60 also delivers refined and luxurious\ndriving experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 is the first model to feature electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD). The\nsystem provide various virtual driving sounds through the speakers based on the\ndriving mode, the vehicle\u2019s speed, and accelerator pedal data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers can choose from\nthree sounds: a \u2018Futuristic\u2019 sound that symbolizes the direction of future\nmobility; a soft and sporty \u2018G-Engine\u2019 sound that\u2019s based on engine noises; and\nan \u2018E-Motor\u2019 sound, which reimagines the vehicle\u2019s motor sounds. Drivers can\nexplore detailed volume controls and pedal responses in the settings to\ncustomize their driving experience to suit their preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\nalso features Road Active Noise Control (ANC-R) technology to minimize noise and\nuses various sound-absorbing materials to achieve silence while driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the\nelectronic-Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) enables an optimal amount of\ntorque to be distributed to the wheels when turning around at high speeds,\nimproving performance when cornering and starting off. This offers drivers more\nstable control on slippery roads and in snowy or rainy weather. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 also features the Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Pre-view ECS),\nwhich uses information gathered from the front camera and navigation system to\nrecognize situations that could have an impact the vehicle, such as speed\nbumps, in advance. It also controls the damping force of the suspension\naccording to the surface of the road to offer passengers optimal comfort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 also features a MacPherson multi-link suspension system for the front\nwheels, a five-multi-link suspension system for the rear wheels, and R-MDPS (Rack-mounted,\nmotor-driven power steering) to enhance basic performance, including handling,\ncomfort, and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nAWD model\u2019s Disconnector Actuator System (DAS) separates or connects the motor\nand the drive shaft according to driving conditions. This allows drivers to\nfreely switch between RWD and AWD, minimizing power loss and ensuring efficient\ndriving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New battery\ncharging technology to make drivers\u2019 lives<\/strong> easier<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 is the first\nmodel to feature a battery conditioning function that manages the battery\u2019s\ntemperature to ensure optimal conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battery conditioning\nis a function that not only preheats to secure better performance when the\nbattery temperature is low, but also shortens the amount of charging time by\nadjusting the battery temperature. By pairing with the infotainment system, it allows\ndrivers to optimize battery conditions while searching for a fast-charging\nstation on the navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 applies a\n400\/800V multi rapid charging system that boosts the 400V supplied by the\ncharger to 800V. It is optimized for the vehicle\u2019s system thanks to the\nvehicle’s driving motor and inverter, enabling stable and rapid charging with\nvarious charging infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When charging at 350kW\nwith the ultra-speed charging function, the battery can be charged from 10\npercent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. Furthermore, charging time for the\nslow charging function has been shortened by increasing the charging capacity\nfrom 7.2kW to 11kW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GV60 can also be\nused as a mobile power source, as it provides a V2L (Vehicle to Load) function\nthat enables its battery to charge other electronic devices. The V2L function\nsupports a 3.6kW charge, which is higher than the power supply in the average\nhome. This gives customers the freedom to use electricity regardless of\nlocation when camping or enjoying outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next generation\ninfotainment system and various specifications exclusive to EV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 offers customers a smarter take on mobility with a cutting-edge\ninfotainment system and various connected car services designed specifically\nfor electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 is the first Genesis model to apply a next-generation infotainment system,\nccIC (connected car Integrated Cockpit), which links clusters and navigation\ninto a panoramic display while seamlessly connecting content throughout\nclusters, navigation, and HUD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ncluster connected to navigation provides key information for safe driving via a\nthree-view display for maps, navigation (normal\/AR mode), and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It also enables drivers to\neasily grasp a variety of information related to driving, phone calls, media,\nvoice recognition, and more through cluster\u2019s split screens that integrate all the\ninformation on trip computer and navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nenhanced connection between navigation and the Head-Up-Display (HUD) offers\nexisting HUD data, as well as information on ADAS, phone calls, voice\nrecognition, and media information for drivers\u2019 convenience. The \u2018welcome\u2019 and\n\u2018goodbye\u2019 greeting animations strengthen the sense of integration throughout\nthe system by interconnecting the clusters and navigation monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 is also Genesis\u2019 first to feature a Bang & Olufsen sound system.\nGenesis collaborated with the world-class Danish audio company, which was\nfounded in 1925, to developing a component for Hi-Res Audio output and offer\ncustomers the best luxury sound experience. With a tap of their finger, using\nBang & Olufsen\u2019s dedicated sound control interface, drivers and passengers\ncan choose a sound mix for specific atmospheres encompassing four \u2018moods\u2019\n(Relax, Energetic, Bright, and Warm).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\n17 speakers complete the premium audio system. The aluminum grille that\nfeatures Genesis\u2019 G-Matrix pattern emphasizes the vehicle\u2019s sophisticated\ndesign and maximizes the sense of luxury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nRelaxation Comfort seats help the driver and front passenger feel comfortable\nwhile charging or parking the vehicle. The Ergo Motion Seat with seven air\npockets ensures extra comfort, especially for drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover,\nthe Smart Regeneration System 2.0 helps optimize energy regeneration by automatically\nadjusting the regenerative brake according to traffic data and navigation map\ninformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i-Pedal\n(Intelligent Pedal) mode allows the driver to accelerate, decelerate, and stop\nusing just the accelerator pedal. This mode can be activated under the\nstrongest regenerative brake stage, which can be selected by utilizing the\npaddle shift. It not only enables one-pedal driving but also maximizes\nregenerative brake, increasing the car\u2019s driving range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various cutting-edge driver assistance systems\nand a robust body for enhanced safety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGV60 offers a safe and convenient driving experience with advanced autonomous\ndriving technology that is based on active safety approach, as well as various driver\nassistance systems, protecting passengers from possible dangers both inside and\noutside of the vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These\nsafety and convenience features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA),\nLane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Safe\nExit Assist (SEA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention\nWarning (DAW), rear side monitor, High Beam Assist (HBA), Smart Cruise Control\n(SCC), Navigation based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Lane Following Assist\n(LFA), Highway Driving Assist 2(HDA 2), Rear View Monitor (RVM), Surround View\nMonitor (SVM), Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Parking\nDistance Warnings for the front, side and rear (PDW), Rear Parking\nCollision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nMulti-Collision Brake (MCB) automatically activates the brake if the driver\ntemporarily loses control of the vehicle after a first collision. The\nPre-Active Front Seat Belt protects passengers by fastening the seat belt in\nadvance when encountering a dangerous situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\naddition to these active safety features, the GV60 uses a multi-frame structure\nat the front that distributes energy from collisions. On the side, it also applied\nhot-stamping reinforcement materials to the center pillar and applied aluminum\nparts to the side to ensure passenger and battery stability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\ntotal of eight airbags, including the center side airbags in front seats, have\nbeen provided as standard option to ensure the safety of passengers in the\nevent of an accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
